About the League
The GCSS Adult Kickball League is an athletic and SOCIAL league created to fill the void of organized adult playground games! Kickball is a simple game consisting of two teams, bases, and a BIG RED BALL. Played like softball or baseball, the object is to score more runs than the opposing team.

Fielding & Players
- 10 Fielders Max on field.
- Max 4 in outfield.
- Gender Minimum: A team fielding 10 players must include at least 3 female players.
- Short-Handed Play: Teams may play with 9 players if they have at least 2 female players on the field.
- Head Hits: SAFE if hit above standing shoulder height. OUT if ducking/sliding into it.
- Throwing at Runner: Allowed appropriately. Reasonable force only.
- Subs: No subs unless under 10 players. Max 2 subs.
- League Subs: Allowed freely to reach 10.
- Outside Subs: Must sign waiver. Failure = Loss.
Pitching & Catching
- Pitching:
- Ball can bounce up to 4 times.
- Never above batter's knee.
- No curve/English. Nice simple easy pitches.
- Pitcher must stay in circle (or reasonable distance) until ball is kicked.
- Catching:
- 9 players = Catcher optional.
- Must stay behind plate/3rd base line until kick.
- Max 10ft from kicking arch.
Batting/Kicking
- Lineup: No more than 3 men in a row without a female.
- Kicking Area: Must kick within 3' of home plate (kicking arch).
- Kick in front of arch = Warning (1st), Foul (2nd).
- Double kicks = Foul.
- Strikes/Fouls:
- 2 strikes is a foul out.
- Any combination of 2 strikes or fouls = OUT.
- Bunting: From contact, a bunted ball must fully clear the semicircle of cones within the umpire's one-Mississippi count. A ball that touches a cone, remains inside the semicircle, or fails to clear it in time is foul. Don't bunt - KICK IT!
Running
- No leading off or stealing. Runner off base on kick = OUT.
- Baseline: Fielders must stay out of baseline. Runners impeded = Safe.
- Tag Up: Required on caught fly balls.
- Overthrow: One base awarded on ball out of play.
- Collision Avoidance: Defense waiting with ball vs Runner crashing (flagrant) = Runner OUT/Ejected.
- Home-Plate Collision Buffer: Home plate is a dead, open collision-buffer zone. It may not be used as a scoring base or fielding position.
- Runner Zone: The marked runner zone behind home plate is for baserunners only. A runner scores by touching the runner zone. A runner who touches home plate or enters the catcher zone is out.
- Catcher Zone: The marked catcher zone in front of home plate is for the defensive player covering home; any defensive fielder may cover this zone. To record an out, that player must possess the ball in the catcher zone before the runner touches the runner zone.
- No Tags at Home: Home is a force play using the marked zones. Throwing at a runner is allowed under the league's reasonable-force throwing rule, but a defensive player may not tag a runner at home. A defensive player who blocks the runner zone or occupies home plate awards the runner home.
- Commit Line: A commit line will be drawn halfway between third base and home plate. Once a runner crosses this line, they cannot return to third base and must continue toward the runner zone at home. Caught Fly Ball Exception: A runner who must tag up after a caught fly ball may cross back over the commit line to return to the base occupied at the time of the kick. After legally tagging up, the runner may advance toward home.
- Ties go to the runner.
